Phone QR code
Pick the gesture: call, or text with the message already written. Whoever scans the code sees the number on screen and confirms with one tap. For the van's window, the newspaper ad, the shop door with opening hours and the emergency number.
Three steps, nothing to install.
Everything runs on your own computer, start to finish.
Type the number
With the international code (+44) if your audience may be abroad. Spaces and dashes do no harm: the generator keeps only the digits.
Pick the action
Call opens the dialer with the number ready. SMS opens a message, optionally with pre-written text: QUOTE to receive the right reply, or the listing reference.
Download and test
Scan with your phone: the dialer should show your full number. Only then send it to print.
The most universal gesture
It depends on no app: every phone calls and texts. Where WhatsApp may be missing and email may not be set up, the phone is always there.
Pre-written SMS covers simple flows
An agreed word in the text (BOOKING, QUOTE, STOP) lets you filter messages on arrival and reply with what that word asks for. It is the closest paper gets to a form.
The visible number is a feature
The camera shows the number before calling, and that is good: nobody dials blind, and whoever prefers typing it by hand still can. The code just shortens the path.
It neither calls nor sends
The code opens the dialer or the message; confirming is always the reader's gesture. No QR can place a call by itself, and a good thing too.
The SMS text does not reach every phone
The pre-written SMS body is the least standardized part of QR codes: most recent phones honor it, some older ones open the message empty. The number always arrives right; treat the text as a convenience, not a guarantee.
It does not validate the number
The generator cleans what you type, but cannot know whether the number exists. One wrong digit and the whole poster calls someone else. Test with your own phone before printing.
Questions about the phone QR.
Do I need the country code?
If the code may be scanned by foreigners or abroad, yes: +44 makes the call land from any network. For a strictly local audience it works without it, but the country code never hurts.
Can I include the call cost?
The code carries no tariffs. If the number is premium-rate, say so on the poster next to the code: that duty is yours, not the QR's.
Call or SMS, which do I pick?
Depends on what you want to receive. Calls for urgency and closing deals; SMS for requests that can wait and that you want in writing. You can create one code of each.
How much does it cost?
The first download each day is free in every tool, no account needed. After that, each code costs 1 EUR as a one-off purchase: you pay for that code and there is no monthly fee.
