Location QR code

Paste the latitude and longitude, and the code builds on screen. Whoever scans it opens the point in their map app and gets directions to you. For event invitations, construction signs, farms and warehouses that GPS insists on not finding by address.

How it works

Three steps, nothing to install.

Everything runs on your own computer, start to finish.

1

Get the coordinates from a map

In any map app, long-press the exact spot: latitude and longitude appear, ready to copy. It takes a minute, and it is the minute that makes the code point at the right gate.

2

Paste the two numbers here

Latitude, then longitude. Decimal comma or point, either works: the generator understands both. Numbers outside the valid range produce no code at all.

3

Download and test

Scan with your phone and confirm the pin drops where it should, not on the parallel street. Only then print.

For where the address does not reach

Festivals in open fields, farms hosting events, construction accesses, gate B of the warehouse. Addresses fail exactly where arriving matters most; coordinates never do.

The map app is the reader's

The geo: format is neutral: it opens in whatever map the reader's phone defaults to. It locks nobody into a service, and that is why it works on any phone.

On an invitation, it saves the ritual phone call

An invitation with an address always generates the call asking for directions. With the code next to the address, directions become one tap, and the call stops happening.

Nothing you type leaves your browser. The code is drawn on your computer, is not sent to any server, and is not stored anywhere after you close the page.
Limits, stated upfront

It takes coordinates, not addresses

The generator does not turn 12 Flower Street into numbers: that conversion requires a map service, and this site talks to no server. Fetch the coordinates from a map once, and the code stays right forever.

It picks no map and plots no route

The code delivers the point; the reader's app decides how to show it and which way to go. If you need special access instructions, write them on the paper next to the code.

The point is public to whoever holds the paper

Like any QR, the content is readable by any camera. Do not mark places whose location you do not want spread: paper travels.

Questions

Questions about the location QR.

Where do I find the latitude and longitude?

In any map app: long-press the spot and the numbers appear, ready to copy. On a computer, right-clicking the map does the same.

Does it accept a decimal comma?

It does. 38,7223 and 38.7223 are the same number to the generator, so paste it exactly as your map shows it.

Does it open in Google Maps or Apple Maps?

In whatever the reader's phone defaults to. The format is neutral on purpose: the point is the same on any map.

How much does it cost?

The first download each day is free in every tool, no account needed. After that, each code costs 1 EUR as a one-off purchase: you pay for that code and there is no monthly fee.

Hard to find?
Put the X on the map.

Open the generator and paste the coordinates. Nothing to install, nothing sent anywhere.
